About
My research interest centers on post-mass media and public communication.
I take a trans-disciplinary approach to the burgeoning areas of user-experience design and social media. A central interest in my research is how a technology's design and development (information architecture, usability, human-computer interaction, and rhetorical strategies) impact social and cultural uses of public communication.
Public communication is the expression of ideas to many people and a vital process whereby communities establish and maintain culture. Social media can facilitate public communication. The benefits and constraints of social media as a process of online public communication are vital to explore in social and political life. Several topics fundamental to online public communication include ubiquitous computing, participatory media, public commons, politics, and advocacy.
